Press – Washingtonian Bride & Groom blog post

meridian-house-wedding_01meridian-house-wedding_02

I’m very excited to share today’s Washingtonian Bride & Groom blog post on Chris + Scott’s beautiful Meridian House wedding that I photographed this spring in DC. It was truly a wedding with everything, spectacular venue, perfect weather and a wonderful couple. The highlight of the day for me, both as a witness and a wedding photographer, was their ceremony. It was so emotional and personal. Just looking at Scott’s tears while Chris reads his vows, gets me every time. Special thanks to Kawania Wooten at HW Events who recommended me to the happy couple and who ran the whole day flawlessly!!

Make sure to check out my blog post earlier this year on this wonderful wedding!

DC Luxury Dining – Washington Post food photography

There is no shortage of luxury dining rooms in DC. The tricky part is determining which ones are truly worth the money.

One of the great perks of being a DC food photographer is getting to create photos at some of the best restaurants in town. So when the Washington Post Magazine called me to photograph three restaurants to go with Tom Sietsema’s review for their first every Luxury Edition, I couldn’t refuse. I made photos at Marcel’s by Robert Wiedmaier for their Sunday brunch; Bourbon Steak at the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown for their A5 Miyazaki Japanese Wagyu and at Elizabeth’s Gone Raw for their unique high-end Vegan food experience.

Vegan food can be a great addition to a weight loss plan, as long as it is nutrient-dense and balanced. A vegan diet focuses on plant-based foods, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds. These foods are typically lower in calories, high in fiber, and rich in vitamins and minerals, making them a good choice for weight loss.

The other fun part of doing this job is, of course, getting to sample what I photograph. I don’t always get to eat, but in all three of these luxurious restaurants, the chefs were very generous and I admit it, I took them up on their offer. But only after I made sure I had the perfect photographs. I can also report that all three were delicious and very different. Anyone who knows me knows I am NOT a Vegan but the food at Elizabeth’s is so creative and different. I was impressed.

A vegan diet should be balanced and varied to ensure that you are getting all of the nutrients your body needs to function optimally and support weight loss. A vegan diet, when is complemented with exercise and the best weight loss pills that actually work will help us reaching our goal to lose weight.

Choosing the Right Fat Burner
With the plethora of fat burners available, it’s essential to select a product that suits your individual needs and preferences. Here are some factors to consider when choosing the right fat burner for you:

1. Ingredients
Look for a fat burner with clinically studied ingredients that have shown efficacy in promoting weight loss. Avoid products with questionable or unproven compounds.

2. Dosage and Safety
Follow the recommended dosage provided by the manufacturer and consult with a healthcare professional if you have any underlying medical conditions or are taking medications.

3. Customer Reviews
Read reviews and testimonials from other women who have used the fat burner to gauge its effectiveness and potential side effects.

4. Transparency and Reputation
Choose products from reputable brands that provide transparency about their ingredients and manufacturing processes.

The Importance of a Holistic Approach
While fat burners can be valuable tools in your weight loss journey, it’s crucial to adopt a holistic approach to achieve lasting results. Incorporate a balanced diet, regular physical activity, adequate sleep, and stress management into your lifestyle for optimal health and well-being.

Conclusion
In conclusion, fat burners for women can be effective allies in the pursuit of weight loss and improved body composition. By understanding how these supplements work and choosing the right product for your needs, you can maximize their potential benefits.

Remember that fat burners are not magical solutions, and they work best when combined with a healthy lifestyle. Embrace a balanced approach to nutrition and fitness, and you’ll be well on your way to achieving your weight loss goals.

St. Francis Monastery wedding sneak peek – Washington, DC

It is a good day as a DC wedding photographer to have a sunny 70 degree day in early November. Add in an early Sunday ceremony with a beautiful location like the St. Francis Monastery (one of Washington’s hidden gems!) and plenty of time to take some wedding day portraits while it was still light out. Did I mention it was peak weekend for fall foliage? J+J hit the jackpot and as their photographer I was doing my happy dance. Sunlight, love and color are some of my favorite things!

I just love fall weddings!!  I can’t wait to share more of J+J’s wedding with you and with the happy couple. For now, check out some of my other recent DC area weddings. I’m off to edit the rest of their wedding!

Mandarin Oriental wedding – Washington, DC

It is not an exaggeration to say that Hiba + Matt’s Mandarin Oriental summer wedding in DC was a nonstop day of emotion, laughs and so many surprises! They were determined to give their guests an event they wouldn’t forget.

The Mandarin Oriental ballroom was transformed beautifully and guests sat at their tables to watch the ceremony unfold on a stage surrounded by flowers. The elegant pops of red were just the right touch. Officiated by family, the ceremony was lighthearted and funny. And then, the party!! The wedding party was escorted back into the ballroom by Lebanese drummers as a nod to the bride’s heritage. Yes, they did the traditional first dance but that was after two of the groomsmen “kidnapped” the bride but were foiled when Matt burst into the ballroom accompanied by the “Mission Impossible” theme. From that point on the dance floor was packed–led by the bride and groom who were terrific dancers. The final surprise came during the cake cutting. Did I mention it was a 7-foot cake by Buttercream Bakeshop?? Cut with a sword. And with confetti cannons firing? Or the bride and groom simultaneously tossing a bouquet and a football with a garter on it? Like I said, non-stop action and so many fun things to photograph.

With so many moving parts it’s critical that an extraordinary planner be the one behind the scenes. Kudos to Sara Bauleke at Belle Notte for making it all happen without a hitch.

Meridian House wedding – Washington, DC

Meridian House wedding Deb Lindsey Photography_09

Things I love: a gorgeous sunny day, a dapper pair of grooms, a return to Meridian House, and emotional wedding ceremony and a well run event. Boy, did I hit the jackpot with Chris + Scott’s wedding! I knew when I first met the couple in the Nordstrom Cafe at Montgomery Mall many months ago that were were going to get along beautifully. And I was thrilled to be working with Kay at Howerton + Wooten Events again. She makes it all run so smoothly which makes my life easy. On any wedding day, I never know exactly where my favorite photos will come from. I always work hard to get the portraits beautiful and the reception always has a life of it’s own. But the ceremony is often a wild card. Some are emotional, some are traditional and classic. But when couples recite their own vows it’s such a window into their relationship and I just love that. Listen to Chris reading from his teenage diary and watching Scott’s tears flow, I was getting teary. The ceremony in the round in the garden was just the right touch. There’s something so special about being literally surrounded by those you love. Their reception in chic blue and yellow with farm tables for the head table and Metro sign centerpieces was really lovely. And the hanging Edison lights in the garden? I may have been a little obsessed with them (full disclaimer: I just installed a light fixture with them in my house so they are a favorite!). It was a gorgeous night ending with a sparklers surrounded two very happy grooms.

Georgetown Elopement – Washington, DC

Georgetown elopement Deb LIndsey Photography_001Georgetown elopement Deb LIndsey Photography_001a

How adorable were these two? It’s been awhile since I’ve done an elopement that was this much fun. It was a perfect storm of a couple in love willing to let me do my thing, gorgeous light and a couple of hours to play in Georgetown. Brandi and Mike planned well ahead and scheduled their wedding on a Monday in early May. In a month of really rainy days we lucked into a few hour window of brilliant sun before the return of torrential downpours. The couple left it up to me to find them a spot for the ceremony and a quick scouting of the area brought us to the canal. Their ceremony was filled with tears and laughs and a small audience who respectfully kept their distance. They wrote the own vows and the were just so joyful when it was pronounced that they were officially married. From there we just roamed Georgetown, chasing the wonderful light on the canal, at the Old Stone House on M St. walking the intersection of Wisconsin and M and finally we arrived back at the Rosewood Hotel (formerly the Capella) where they were nice enough to let us use their rooftop pool deck for some fun city overviews (OK, mostly industrial looking rooftops but still cool!). Then they were off to sail the Greek Isles for a few weeks as a honeymoon. Sounds heavenly.

Fairmont Washington wedding – Washington, DC

Fairmont wedding Deb Lindsey Photography_01Becky + Harry were on the hunt for cherry blossoms on their wedding day. Unfortunately due to crazier than usual Washington weather, they’d bloomed and gone so the search was on for a suitable spring-like background for photos. After and first look in the beautiful courtyard of the Fairmont, we headed down to Upper Senate Park where tulips and the hind of the next round of pink blossoms were in the trees. It was such fun hanging with the two of them and their bridal party. And as much as I loved making the portraits at the Capitol it is really the moments from their day that were my favorite photos. The way Harry held Becky tight as they were under the chuppah. The visible relief on their faces when the ceremony was over as they made their way up the aisle. Even the sweet moments right after when they put their rings on their proper fingers. After a rollicking hora the party really got started and felt almost like a great concert. The band Marquise, had everyone dancing around the bandstand and even got the bride and groom up to sing along. The day ran perfectly thanks in large part to Margo Fisher at Bright Occasions who made sure everyone and everything was where it needed to be!

Park Hyatt wedding – Washington, DC

What a pleasure it was to start 2016 off with Lindsay + Meredith and their Park Hyatt wedding in downtown DC. Early January can be a risky weather proposition in Washington but we lucked out with an unseasonably warm day–warm enough for a charming first look in front of the iconic Blue Duck Tavern big black doors. I just loved the photo of their friends and Lindsay’s mom watching them see each other for the first time from the window! In fact the whole day was filled with the support of their family and friends. Their ceremony was funny and emotional and conducted by one of their closest friends. What strikes me so much as I look through their photos is the sheer joy on both of their faces throughout the day. They make each other laugh and their happiness is just contagious. The Park Hyatt was the perfect setting for their day, chic and modern and Blue Vanda Design‘s orchids throughout the ceremony and reception space was just the right touch. The couple was determined to throw and great party and there’s no doubt they succeeded. From their first dance the party was in full swing and we had such fun capturing the energy. Although I have to say that one of my absolute favorites from the evening was Lindsay and her father’s dance. Tears were flowing (which is always good for photos!).

Carnegie Institution for Science wedding – Washington, DC

Carnegie Institution for Science is one of the most instantly recognizable DC places to get married. It also happens to be one of my favorite places to shoot. From our very first meeting, Heather and Eli talked about having wedding that was different and memorable. They succeeded on both counts. They were married by all of their siblings in a great mix of tears and laughter. At one point in the ceremony the whole wedding party was wiping their eyes. Several of the couple’s passions were integrated into their wedding day. Some of the highlights included the bourbon and wine tasting room and the amazing transformation of the reception into a glam indoor garden and lounge coordinated impeccably by Janice Carnevale at Bellwether Events, I have never seen the venue look more beautiful.

Cosmos Club wedding – Washington, DC

Anne + Aly’s Cosmos Club wedding in late September was done with a pretty quick turnaround. They pulled together a beautiful wedding in a short time and it didn’t hurt that they chose such a classic Washington venue. The gilded gold ballroom is instantly recognizable and the grounds of the club, while not extensive, were just enough for an intimate outdoor ceremony. The exterior of the building with it’s steps and wrought iron made for fun couple and family portraits. We even made a quick foray into the parking lot for a photo in front of the art gallery mural adjacent to the club. Small touches throughout the wedding really added to the day. The flowers by Sidra Forman were beautifully placed in small arrangements throughout the building.  And the highlight of the reception had to be the surprise appearance of a belly dancer (a nod to the groom’s Egyptian heritage). The crowd went crazy!
