Debbie + Paul’s elegant Georgetown wedding – Four Seasons, Washington, DC – October 28, 2012

Debbie + Paul were wedding number two for me on the last weekend in October. Which under normal circumstances is an incredibly lovely time to get married in Washington. But with Hurricane Sandy forecast to be making a beeline for the middle Atlantic things looked a little dicey. The very good news for us was that the skies looked threatening but nothing started until we were safely in the ballroom during the ceremony. We were able to roam the streets of Georgetown a bit and do all the portraits outside. Unfortunately it impacted the wedding a bit with some guests unable to attend but Debbie + Paul’s enthusiasm for their day wasn’t dimmed a bit. Both of them are huge sports fans…DC in particular but UNC for Debbie as well. Their photobooth was well stocked with Wizards and Caps gear—the Rock the Red towel made for  a fun ring shot. The band kept the dance floor crowded ..culminated with the couple on stage singing along.

Engagements

I am determined to get these posted before some of these wonderful couples get married! Yes, I’ve been too busy to blog these engagements but August is a great time to revisit earlier summer shoots, right? Here’s some of my favorites and I made my self-imposed deadline…Randi and Mike are getting married in Pa. on Aug. 25. For the rest of the couples, I’m looking forward to shooting their weddings in Sept. + November. And stay tuned for more recent engagements coming next week!

Andra + Daniel’s engagement session

Just a quick few lovely engagement session shots to start of a crazy busy Memorial Day week. Andra and Daniel and I spent a lovely spring afternoon at Dumbarton Oaks and I’m looking forward to their wedding coming up in a few short weeks!

Engagements!

For those of you who didn’t get quite enough love on Valentine’s Day here’s some engagement love from my fall/winter engagements. Enjoy!

Engagements!

I know there’s been a lot of blog silence from me this summer. I had a very leisurely mid-July through mid-August and that allowed me to get almost completely caught up. Galleries and albums and blog submissions–oh my! Anyway, I have been horribly remiss in posting any engagement photos shot this summer so here they are. I can’t wait to catch up with all these wonderful couples for their fall weddings. Keep an eye out for more regular postings as my fall season gets underway starting with Maura + Pat’s wedding coming up tomorrow!!

On another not really related note–I’m now tweeting so if you’re on Twitter please follow me @deb_lindsey.

Janine + Ajit engagement

Let’s start with full disclosure. I am not a morning person. Never have been, never will be. But sometimes, just sometimes, I have to get up early. And I appreciate it that Janine and Ajit made it fun for me. And some cupcakes definitely helped! We started out bright and early in Georgetown along the canal and Cady’s Alley and then strolled down M St. to the Old Stone House. A couple bright sides to getting up early…no problem parking in Gtown, no traffic and my shooting day is done by 10:30! Conveniently I’d parked my car near Georgetown Cupcake which I’d just discovered (very belatedly, I know) a few weeks earlier at Pam + Josh’s engagement shoot and I thought it would be fun to incorporate cupcakes into one of our shots. It turns out that Janine + Ajit were huge cupcake fans and we’re all for it. So we waiting in line for a few minutes before they opened at 10 and then had the bright idea to ask if we could scoot in early to do some shooting. And it only costs them a dozen red velvet cupcakes! A bargain!! I really had a great time shooting and talking and sharing various obsessions (The Wire for example) and I’m hoping Janine + Ajit like the photos as much as I do. I’m really looking forward to their bicultural wedding in July.

Pam + Josh engagement 3-27-10

We finally had a sunny day last Saturday. Too bad it was about 35 degrees! But Pam and Josh weathered the cold in great style and we took advantage of the full sunshine and uncrowded streets of Georgetown to take some lovely engagement photos. They looked terrific–loved her red coat! We ended having to work around a high school crew regatta on the Potomac River and lots of construction around the waterfront fountain–but it could have been worse. At least there were no major protests, no massive cherry blossom seeking tourists or a marathon to contend with. I’m looking forward to their wedding in June–my destination wedding for this spring on Fripp Island in Georgia.
