Family Portraits – Washington, DC

It seems to me that the dead of winter is a good time change up the blog a bit and post some of the fun family and baby portrait portraits I had in the late fall and early winter of last year. And a little hint for the mini baby boom going on amongst my brides from 2-3 years ago that have just come out with announcements for summer babies! I was fortunate to photograph so many expressive babies and toddlers this year–such sweet faces and personalities! I don’t know why I prefer black and white photography for children but it feels so timeless and classic. These photos could have been taken in 2015 or decades earlier. I love doing family portraits and the group below is a mix of my former brides and grooms who have now grown their families as well as new families who find me through word of mouth.

Family portraits Alexandria, Virginia – Henry + Connor

Henry is always a little suspicious when I show up with my camera. In spite of that, I love catching up with Maura and Pat (who was missed on this trip!) and their growing family. I was excited to meet their newest addition Connor who while he wasn’t suspicious I wouldn’t say he was thrilled to be photographed. Together we managed to make some sweet photos and three weeks after giving birth Maura looked amazing.

Baby Sara

I love hearing from my former brides and grooms, especially when they’re calling to tell me they’ve had a baby and want some portraits done! I had the pleasure of photographing baby Sara who’s now three months old and  she is such a cutie. She has a very sweet nature–we shot for almost an hour on Monday without any fussing. And she was so alert and curious and I think that shows particularly in the tighter shots of her.  Julia and Meisam are naturals as parents, calm and collected. I especially enjoyed watching Meisam and Sara–according to Mom, she’s Daddy’s girl. I’ve got one of those at home (although now she’s 12!) so I can completely relate.
