Baby Elliott

Welcome to my first attempt at newborn photos. And I have to say, it wasn’t nearly as easy as I though it would be. We’ve all seen the beautiful (and sometimes corny) sleeping baby photos. I can now attest–not a piece of cake to achieve. Since this shoot I’ve learned a few secrets of the trade (really warm rooms, soothing womb sounds etc) but I think what I’ve discovered is that my newborn shots are done in my usual style for better or worse. And I like it that so many of them had Elliott’s eyes open. Of course, I do like the one of him screaming. I think the bottom line is that you need the patience of a saint (which I don’t possess–just ask my kids!) along with the artistic eye for those beautiful placid newborn baby photos. And I think I never did the artsy newborn photos of my own kids because by the time they were asleep I was too exhausted to photograph them. Thanks to Molly and Michael for letting me into their home once again to photograph their little boy. He is adorable and I’m sure he was thrilled when I left and he finally got to get some sleep.
